The Red Deer Sutter Fund Chiefs are gearing up for their National Championship run.
The Red Deer Sutter Fund Chiefs completed an incredible AFHL U18 AAA Playoff run on March 22, defeating the St. Albert Slash 3–1 in Game 3 of the Provincial Championship Final.
En route to the title, the Chiefs swept their opening round series against the Calgary Fire Black before advancing to the semifinals to face the defending national champion and top-seeded Edmonton Jr. Oilers. Red Deer earned a gritty 2–1 shootout win in Game 1 and followed it up with a 4–2 victory in Game 3 to secure their place in the final.
In the championship series, the Chiefs set the tone early with a 5–2 win in Game 1 before ultimately clinching the title in Game 3 with a 3-1 win over the Slash.
A key part of that playoff run was goaltender Brylee Hull, who was named Playoff MVP for her outstanding performance between the pipes.
Now, the Chiefs turn their attention to the next challenge.
The Red Deer Sutter Fund Chiefs will host the BCEHL U18 AAA Female Champion Greater Vancouver Comets in a best-of-three Pacific Regional Championship series at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.
The winner will earn a spot at the 2026 Esso Cup, set for April 19–25 in Dieppe, NB.
