Hockey Alberta is pleased to announce several updates to the Elite Hockey Model for 2026-27. While regulation changes and wording will not be final until April, the concepts that will be implemented are set and ready to be shared with participants.
AFHL FRANCHISE UPDATES
The Alberta Female Hockey League is excited to welcome Camrose to U18 AA next season, rounding out their compliment of AA teams in the AFHL Model. Leduc and the NCI Franchise will pause operations for next season, and will not operate teams in U13, U15 or U18 AA.
CAMROSE AA RECRUITMENT AREA (U18 AA)

DIRECTIONS FOR PLAYERS IMPACTED BY CHANGES
CAMROSE (U18 AA): Any players whose Primary MHA falls into the Camrose U18 AA Recruitment Area and who were rostered to a AA team this season will be granted the choice on if they wish to stay with their current AA Program or join their new Primary AA Recruitment Area. Players who elect to stay with their current AA program must contact the MHA they wish to return to, who will complete the necessary paperwork. All other players whose Primary MHA falls into the Camrose U18 AA Recruitment Area must begin their Elite Tryout Process with Camrose or apply for Elite Player Movement.
LEDUC (U13, U15 & U18 AA): Athletes whose Primary Association falls within the North Central Draw Zone will be permitted to attend their first tryout with the Association of their choice as long as the association is willing to accept them. Families are not required to complete any Player Movement Process; however, they must contact the Association they wish to join to be accepted.
